I wanted to do something that spoke to the part of me (and probably most environment artists) that is in love with forgotten places. So I built this stone tower, slowly being reclaimed by nature and time. I wanted to push a strong silhouette and readable materials, with a clear contrast between the rigid, straight lines of the tower with all the twisty organic foliage. I was heavily inspired by the moss covered oak tree forests in Scotland.
Everything in this scene was created by me, which includes all meshes, master materials, textures, foliage and the landscape. I used Blender and Zbrush for modeling, Substance Designer and Painter for materials, and Speedtree for foliage.
I wanted to push atmosphere as much as possible and I didn't use any marketplace assets.
